Ideas and Inspiration

Possibilities for your Possibility Packs!

So glad you’re here! You’ve probably purchased a Possibility Pack and are looking for inspiration on how to use it. If so, you’ve come to the right place.

I created these cards because I believe in the power of a provocative question, the importance of deeper dialogue, and the convenience of a handy tool. There is no wrong way to use them, which is why you will find inspiration here rather than instructions. We’ll start with a few ideas from me, and I look forward to learning how others are using the cards.

Each deck has its own set of ideas—feel free to mix and match across categories!

Where to use these?

  • On high top tables at your next company social
  • When people arrive at meetings, to encourage connection rather than scrolling
  • Dinner party conversation starters
  • In coaching conversations
  • Leave a stack on your desk to make them easy for you and others to pick up
  • Date night
  • On a walk with a friend to deepen the conversation
  • In the car with your getting-bigger kids
  • By the coffee machine at work
  • Check-in meetings with your team
  • To open a strategic planning workshop
  • On a flipchart page in the hallway for people to write their answers as they walk by

For individuals

On your own

The basics: Choose a card and pause long enough to answer it thoughtfully.

Even better:

  1. Journal prompt – Select a card for the week or month and answer it in writing in a journal. Pay attention to how your answer evolves over time.
  2. Walk fodder – Randomly pick three cards and use them as catalysts for meditation as you go for a walk. Did you know that most geniuses have a strong walking habit?
  3. Pair it up – Pick two cards, intentionally or at random. Where can you detect some overlap in your answers to each?
With someone else

The basics: Use the individual or organizational cards in a coaching conversation.

Even better:

  1. Small talk gets bigger – Encourage your team members to set up coffee chats and use the cards as a conversation starter. Be sure you model that behaviour too!
  2. Lengthen the story – Pick a card and ask your partner a question that could come before or after the one you chose.
  3. Go with the flow – Pick two cards each and role play on a topic, improv-style, with the goal of naturally integrating both of your questions into the conversation without the other person noticing.

For groups

The basics: You can use the individual or organizational cards to prompt group conversation. Lay a few cards on the table and see where they lead!

Even better:

  1. Labyrinth – Place cards around the room and walk from prompt to prompt. Discuss your answer with someone else whom you encounter at your station.
  2. Pick five cards. Which one would likely generate the most disruptive conversation? What about the most encouraging or insightful one?
  3. Curiosity Swap – Pick a card you think would generate an interesting answer. Walk around the room and find a partner. Swap cards and answer the one you received (and listen to your partner’s answer!) then keep walking and do it again.

Give your idea a boost

Did you know that our first idea is rarely our best one? The booster pack (included when you buy the complete deck) is designed to make your good ideas even better. Answer one of the other cards, then slap a booster on it. What more comes up?

Reimagine, Together

What have the cards sparked for you? A fresh idea? A breakthrough moment? A new way of leading a group? However you’re using them, your story can inspire someone else to reimagine what’s possible.

I’d love to hear your stories, tips, or questions so we can share your ideas with others. Keep checking back for more inspiration!
