Sometimes people ask me when I “have time to come up with so many new ideas?”
I wonder if they think I just sit at my desk and think. I don’t.
Thinking is work, yes, but most of my ideas come when I am “in delivery” — in front of a room of people, speaking or facilitating. I test them in real time and see which ones land.

One of the trips I’ve been most looking forward to, for several years in fact, was a visit to Modern Elder Academy (MEA) to spend time with Chip Conley and learn more on the topic of “Wise Leadership.”
This past week, I attended one event and heard about another that were both very well put together. Let’s learn from what these organizers and facilitators did really well.
The first was a meeting at a post-secondary institution. One of the participants posted on social media that it was refreshing to attend. I asked her to share what made the session so good. Her prompt, verbatim reply is printed here, with her permission:
I used to spend a lot of time in eastern Africa. When they arrived late for a meeting, friends there would tell me, with a twinkle in their eyes, that time is like an elastic band — it stretches to fit.
